The Shamrock and the Cross - Irish Religious Poetry

  • Canonmills Church 14 Canonmills Edinburgh, Scotland, EH3 5LH United Kingdom (map)

THE SHAMROCK AND THE CROSS: SPECTATORS UNDER HEAVEN.

The Irish poet John W Sexton’s phrase ‘spectators under heaven’ has inspired Michael Daviot, Claire McDonald and Janet de Vigne to present a wide-ranging selection of Irish poetry, drawing on both ancient and modern expressions of faith and spirituality. The intimacy of Canonmills Church -- Robert Louis Stevenson’s schoolroom in times past --  provides the perfect space for poetic reflection on religious themes.
