The Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus opened in 1860. The building is a relatively simple shape, but its interior is very striking – fourteen large paintings of the Stations of the Cross by the Bavarian artist Peter Rauth, all beautifully restored at the start of this century. In 2025 magnificent new stained-glass windows by Sarah Galloway were installed above and behind the altar. Sarah Galloway is a contemporary artist renowned for her work in architectural glass.
